Culinary Scene

With one of the hottest culinary scenes in the southern U.S., this is where you’ll find undiscovered gems that uphold traditions or put their own creative twists on the Spanish, French, African, Asian and Native American cultures that create this uniquely American cuisine. Elsie’s Plate & Pie, a favorite among Baton Rouge locals, received Michelin recognition in 2025! Enjoy classic Louisiana faire like gumbo, fried seafood and poboys at a Baton Rouge classic restaurant, Poor Boy Lloyd’s in downtown. Or try the famous “Hallelujah Crab” at Jubans Restaurant, a fine dining staple in Baton Rouge since 1986.
Music and Festivals

Baton Rouge has a vibrant festival scene – with arts, music and unique festivals throughout the year. During Mardi Gras season, you’ll find plenty of parades, music, and hospitable people enjoying a good time. Our most known Mardi Gras celebration is the Spanish Town parade, a hot pink celebration full of flamingos, bookable with premium tickets for easy group and FIT viewing.
Baton Rouge Blues Festival
One of the oldest blues festivals in the country returns this April to celebrate the Swamp Blues, a style distinctive to Baton Rouge emerging from its Black communities in the 1950s and blending zydeco and Cajun influences, characterized by haunting echoes, shuffle beats, tremolo guitars and harmonica.
